This is a combined classes for ages 6 months to 3.5 years old with a parent in the water. This class will stress safety and teaches parents how to help their child become comfortable in the water. Swimming diapers are required under swim suit if the child is not potty trained. Level of support and assistance from parent will vary depending upon the skill level and confidence of the child. Skills to be introduced: bubble blowing, front an back float, reaching, kicking, jumping in the water, beginning arm movements on the front and back all supported and safety in and around the pool.

Professional Photographers, Walt and Devon Meadows from GOLDEN MEADOWS PHOTOGRAPHY, bring over 30 years of experience to his classroom. Class will consist of a lecture and hands-on practice with your camera. Topics covered include image capture, composition, basic understanding of aperture, depth of field, shutter speed, focal length, reading your ISO, metering, and camera modes. Each week the class will critique the photographs taken so we can learn at your level. NOTE: No point and shoot cameras. Your camera must have the ability to change aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

Pilates is a form of exercise, which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. Variations can be done for all levels and you can work at your own pace.

Skills taught will be independent water entry, supported kicking, supported front and back floats and glides, supported front and back swims, bubble blowing and face submerge. All skills will be done with support.

Rising STARZ Gymnastics
Gymnastics
Basic level skills are reinforced, as more advanced skills are introduced in all apparatus: floor, vault, beam, and bars with an emphasis on building self-confidence, self-esteem, and body awareness. Class taught for all levels: beginner through intermediate with focus on completing USA Gymnastics Level 1 skills. Lake Orion Enrichment Services in cooperation with STARZ Performing Arts offers recreational children’s gymnastics lessons. There are three sessions: fall, winter, and spring. Join us for one, two, or all three sessions; yearlong students in the program receive a trophy in June. Participants should wear leotards or fitness clothing (no jeans) and bring a water bottle. CERC provides a quiet waiting area in the main lobby where parents will remain during the class. A formal “Olympics” will be presented to the parents and guests on the last week to demonstrate skills and progress.

Self Defense for Girls and Women

This class focuses on developing situational awareness as well as learning self-defense techniques applicable to various attacks. From a simple wrist grab to an attempted choke, students will learn defensive as well as offensive skills. Additional topics will cover identification/use of potential weapons, vulnerable target areas on attackers as well as kicking, punching, and throwing drills. Class is taught by American Martial Arts Academy Third Dan Black Belts.

Shooting STARZ Gymnastics Team (USAA Level 1-3)

Join our team for the gymnast who wants to commit to gymnastics all year long. Gymnasts will personalize their skills, work on perfecting their routines, and attend one local competition (within a one hour drive). Members are expected to commit to the program for all 3 sessions (fall, winterand spring). Additional expenses such as team leotards, warm-ups, competition fees, and additional practices will be discussed but not exceed $200(due in two payments).A mandatory parent meeting will take place atfirst class, Wednesday, September 11, at 6:30 pm. Gymnasts are encouraged to register for open gym sessions and clinics as well. Open registration is only available in the fall. New registrations will not be taken in the winter or spring session. For planning purposes, all sessions that are required are listed below. Fall participants can register for later sessions any time before the session begins.

Spanish - Beginner Level I
Special Interest
If you have always wanted to learn Spanish, this introductory class is for you! Get to know this beautiful language and begin to read, write, and speak Spanish! Each week we will practice understanding the basics (alphabet, colors, numbers, days, months, seasons, families, greetings, etc.), work on pronunciation, play games, learn jokes, hear songs, and discover interesting things about Spanish and Latin American culture. Prepares students for Beginner Level II.

Spanish - Beginner Level III

In this class, students will become capable of using Spanish to confidently communicate with others! We’ll practice conversing in Spanish and work on constructing sentences using the present and past tenses. We’ll flex our Spanish muscles through fun group activities, games, music, and cultural lessons! This level 3 class is for students who have already taken the Level II class or have a foundation in Spanish with an understanding of basic verb conjugation.
